The Violent Crime Reduction Bill.
"Manufacture, import and sale of realistic imitation firearms"
"Manufacture, import and sale of realistic imitation firearms"
I have copied this extract from MVT information so please read as this could effect you....
If this bill goes through without any serious amendments the results may well be;
No guns at shows, and that means not even wooden copies.
No tanks at shows.
No mock battles. You will not be allowed to bring your de-activated weapon "in to daylight"
Un saleable de-activated will have no value, including AFV's and artillery.
The list of implications is endless.
Below are extracts from Home Office replies received by a Militaria Trader...
"Section 30 of the Bill refers to realistic initation firearms. Since a deactivated firearm is, by definition, no longer a firearm but looks like one, we take the view that it is a realistic replica and hence included in the ban.
The Government is aware that this Bill, if passed in to law, will have an impact on parts of the retail trade. However, this has to be balanced against the traumatising effect of the misuse of replica firearms on victims of crime and the increase in the incidence of such misuse.
There will be a power to make regulation to provide for exemptions to the office of manufacturing, importing or selling realistic imitations.
Because existing owners will be allowed to keep their weapons following the introduction of a ban on importation, manufacture and sale, there is no provision for any compensation."
The Bill was published on June 8th 2005 and has already had its second reading on June 20th 2005.
It could be law withing 90 days from June 20th 2005
It is now at Committee stage, so this is your only oppoertunity to raise all the points which politicians have not thought of, but think of this no guns in tank turrets!! come on please!!
