Sales
For Sale is an FV610 Saracen Armoured Command Post (ACP). This vehicle was bought in July 2004 with the intention of restoring her to when she was in service with the Royal Artillery. Unfortunately due to her impressive girth she does not fit through the door of my workshop and I cannot see a time in the next couple of years when I will be in a position to start the restoration, so reluctantly it is time to sell her to someone that can hopefully get her back to her former glory.

I have a poor quality copy of the army service cards but they do show her history and registration. Make no mistake she is in need of total restoration but seems rather complete.
The ACP was used by the British Army solely within Artillery Regiments as a Command Vehicle. She has a much higher roof than the standard Saracen and is kitted out internally with a long desk and bench and a number of racks for all the radios and other equipment that she carried whilst in service.
There were only a 130 of this version made and very rare to come across, I know of only one other in existence and that is at the Artillery Museum at Woolwich in London. I will try and describe her current condition as best I can but please feel free to email me for additional information and I will hopefully be able to answer them.
I want to see her go to someone that will restore her rather than break her for spares which is what I will very reluctantly do if she does not find a new home.
Vehicle Details
Internally she is not too bad, there seems to be all the electric’s in place although the battery tray had corroded too badly to repair but the rest of the internal structure and components just have some surface rust. Most of the fittings are in place and look in reasonable condition and I believe that with a clean and a lick of standard military silver the inside will look great.
Externally Again in reasonable condition for her age but nothing a good sand blasting wont cure. A couple of the storage boxes are in need of repair but this would only require some light welding and there is a small corrosion hole in the front nearside wing. The front hatch is stuck open and would require some heat and force to move but otherwise it looks in good condition. The six road wheels are in good condition and all the tyres are excellent. The silencer has totally disintegrated and will need to be replaced. There is surface rust on the suspension supports but again I believe this would be easily removed with a sandblast or even a wire brush and a lot of elbow grease. The brakes are not in operation but the vehicle is freewheeling and the steering is fine.
Engine Apart from looking very dirty and dusty looks to be in great condition. There is oil still in the engine and although it smells old it looks fine. There does not seem to be anything missing from the engine at all and the mileage on the clock reads 674 miles which I believe could well be accurate so the engine is not even run in yet!
This is a very rare opportunity to grab a piece of rare British Army history. Make no mistake though this is a large project but I believe that with the right approach should not throw too many surprises as the vehicle has not been messed about with.
I am open to offers, so if interested please contact me via email info@silver-bullet-vehicles.co.uk or link above with any questions you might have.
